I came across a picture of an old building in Curaçao. The building had a very interesting looking doorway. The entrance was locked with a chain and padlock which triggered my curiosity. What is behind the door? Why is it locked? What was the owner trying to protect? Were they trying to keep people from entering or leaving? Is this building haunted? I could think of all kinds of crazy stories, but what makes it really interesting is the fact that the closed door with this lock inspired my imagination. If the door was open, there would be no speculation, so here we are, let’s let our imaginations run wild.
The small island of Curaçao is known to have many colorful buildings and attracts many tourists. The building in the reference photo is old and color is faded. Unlike other buildings in the area, this one is beaten and looks troubled. Perhaps it was abandoned and was not taken care of. When it was new, the walls would have been bright yellow with a deep green door. I don’t know who occupied it during its long history….I’m sure these walls could tells us all kinds of stories.
