You will run into cats strolling around the tiny island as if they own this place.
This scene is also from Santorini, known as a ‘cat haven’ for some cat enthusiasts. Many stray cats have lived there for generations and the island itself works as a support system to these cute felines. There are over 600 thousand cats in Greece, so you could only imagine how many of them are in Santorini. The main reason why Greece has so many stray cats is mainly because of its warmer climate which allows the cat to create offsprings throughout the year. Also Greece has so many ancient ruins and they act as good hiding spots for cats. Unlike most other countries, cats in Greece are friendly to strangers and don’t run away. And here is the irony - cats have no clue how precious the place is in which they live. People spend thousands of dollars to visit there for a week, but for these cats, they stroll and sleep freely, and sometimes they get nice meals from locals or tourists alike. This particular cat was walking down the familiar street and looking for some excitement.
