In New England, you may find an iconic seascape where sun is leaving for the day and lighthouse is about to bright up the sea. It is a picture perfect moment.

There are 200 lighthouses in New England. Historically, the lighthouse was built onshore or on the seabed to serve as an aid to maritime coastal navigation, warning mariners of hazards, establishing their position, and guiding them to their destinations. In modern era, electric navigation systems play major roles but a fair number of mariners still prefer visual navigation by the lighthouse. For locals (I live in Boston MA),, some of popular light houses include Portland Head Light (ME), Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse (ME), or Nobska Point Lighthouse (MA). The one I painted above is called Annisquam Harbor Light (MA). It is relatively small lighthouse but stands as a perfect addition to beautiful sunset.

It is always my joy to paint beautiful colors and I truly enjoyed this piece.
