On sunny day at Greek Island, take a boat to cruise Mediterranean Sea. You will see breathtaking turquoise color reflecting on the sun. Sitting on the boat and hearing the gentle sound of wave….nothing else matters at this moment.

Mediterranean Sea has been used as a romantic destination by many tourists as well as being filmed frequently. People associate this sea as some sort of ‘romanticism’. Although it is undeniably beautiful, this sea has an interesting history. According to the Wikipedia, around 5.9 million years ago the Mediterranean was cut off from the Atlantic and was partly or completely desiccated over a period of some 600,000 years during the Messinian salinity crisis before being refilled by the Zanclean flood about 5.3 million years ago. It is hard to imagine this beautiful sea was a desert one point! In ancient time, the sea was an important route for merchants and travelers, facilitating trade and cultural exchange between the peoples of the region. As we know, history of the Mediterranean region contributed a major role to shape the modern society there. The sea played a major role in our ancient and modern society, and will continue to do so in the future.
